Went there based on a friend's suggestion. Beer was cold, food was OK, but the place really did look a wreck. I think the booths are cast offs from Red Lobster and the floor was apparently from two different places. Just didn't look clean enough to me. Anyways it appears to be a local favorite, but not mine.

Best Mexican food anywhere. Great prices too. This restaurant has been one of our family's favorites since they first opened. They used to be at the old Pizza Hut in NPR on 19 before moving to this current location.

Great Mexican food, but if you want good service, stay away. We have been here numerous times, always the same. No urgency in anything unless you get one particular waiter who seems to care. Surprised they are still here with the service, so that will tell you how good the food is.

Always good food the margaritas are average but draft beers are always a deal. The nachos are unbelievable.

The food is terrible the place is definitely a dive. The kitchen looks to be carpeted. The bathroom had no toliet paper, the soap was basically water. Service was slow. Ordered Chili rellenos and enchilada. ..asked for sauce on side it came swimming in it. Very poor quality. Dinner for two 28.00 only one soft drink ordered. Don't waste your money better off at taco bell at least the quality would be better.

A true hole-in-the-wall joint serving authentic, mouthwateringly delicious Mexican food. New Port Richey doesn't have much to offer but Golden Tequila is like a beacon in the night shining on the side of US 19. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered and I've tried quite a few things from the menu. Everything from the guacamole to the fried ice cream is divine. Service is speedy and polite, though it may be hard to have your questions answered due to the language barrier I've run into a few times. Unfortunately (or is it fortunately?) I no longer live in the area but I'd definitely make it a point to return should I find myself in NPR again.

DIVE (in!!). Yes, the Golden Tequila definitely qualifies as a dive....you drive up thinking you have the wrong place...hoping that Yelp was wrong... You walk in to this dinggy, warn down old bar...but we were greeted by smiles and a welcome. As soon as we were seated, we were given a couple delicious baskets of warm chips and salsa...an order of cheese sauce was a great recommendation from other Yelpers. It did take a while to get our dinner....but it was worth the wait....delicious, simply delicious! So...if you can get past the outdated, hwy 19, warn down former bar, that could usr a good scrub, charm...this place definitely impressed me

Everything was so delicious! The chips, the queso blanco, the burrito! Oh man, everything really was great. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. We went on a Sunday, and sat at the bar. We orders white queso with no jalapenos, a super burrito from the a la carte menu, and some sort of taco that was piled high with beef, delicious shredded white cheese, lettuce and tomato. Definitely going back on Monday! Service was good and quick! We saw outside that on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays they have amazing specials such as, 99 cent taco AND drafts on Mondays, I think Tues and Wednesday is Burritos and Thursday is $2 enchilada! It's so, so good. The best Mexican place I have been to in the Pasco area.

We have always enjoyed the food but the building and interior should be torn down and rebuilt. It is dirty and falling apart. I don't think anyone has ever cleaned the ceiling fans, or the bathrooms. The ceiling tiles are falling and broken. Booths are held together with tape and the floors and filthy.

No tequila in the margarita. No taco seasoning in their tacos. No flavor. Bad bad bad. Avoid!

Love this place! I have been coming here for 15 years, since before they moved from near Trouble Creek. The food is always good and plentiful and the prices are awesome!

The chips and salsa is very good, the service is pretty good and the food is good. The Super Burrito a la carte is a good deal and a lot of food. There were a lot of other impressive looking dishes coming out of the kitchen that I will have to try in the future. We also tried their dollar tacos (Mondays and Tuesdays) and they were good.

NEW PHONE #727-848-4148. Great authentic Mexican food!! Always friendly, always homemade! Looks and feels like a restaurant right out of Mexico. Prices are reasonable and a full liquor bar. Carryout meals come with chips and salsa!

The food was spot on and authentic. Service was quick. Don't judge the place on esthetics.

The place is easy to miss. Looks kinda dumpy on the outside, but it is well worth it. Best queso dip I have ever had. Very attentive and helpful staff.

I have been here 3 times. I do have to say their chips & salsa is the best I have had in a long time! (That's why they got the 1 start!) Their tacos & burritos are bland and filled with grease in my opinion. ALL three times, I had VIOLENT projectile diarrhea! Not just once, but I had to get up numerous times during the night, or I would have exploded! The waitress was wonderful! If you have a weak stomach, be careful!

Amazing food at value prices. We were vacationing in New Port Richey for 10 days and ate here four times. Couldn't get enough. Every item we ordered was great!

Stopped in because the two reviews thus far said good food. Maybe we came on an off day but the Carne Asada was extremely tough and unseasoned, the burrito was bland and soaked in chili sauce like an enchilada, and the tacos where bleh at best. The redeeming qualities included extremely friendly service that you just don't find most places anymore with an obvious family run atmosphere along with decent margaritas at a great price. I would go back to take in a few more margaritas, but my wife and daughter requested I don't take them back there for dinner.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
